Vice President of Recruitment Steve Herndon
I hope you have been enjoying your time at FAU! Fraternity Recruitment is right around the corner and there are eight great fraternities on campus to choose from! I know a lot of you do not really know what to expect. Before freshman year I never really considered joining a fraternity. It wasn't that I had anything against Greek Life, it was just I never really knew much about it. I decided to go out of my comfort zone and give it a try and can honestly say it was one of the best decisions of my life.
This spring you have the opportunity to try something new and join a fraternity; I promise you that if you give it a try you will not regret it. The fraternities on FAU's campus raise tens of thousands of dollars a year towards great philanthropies and donate thousands of man hours back to the community. The Fraternity Men at FAU are leaders in the classroom, on the field, and in the workplace. Each fraternity is different but all offer endless opportunities, friendships, and memories that will last you a life time. These next couple of weeks you will start to see fraternities tabling in the breezeway and holding events around campus. This is all in preparation for the annual Fall Interfraternity Council Recruitment Week.
IFC Recruitment Week starts Monday January 22nd at the IFC Open House and ends Friday January 26th. IFC Open house starts at 5pm Monday January 22nd in Live Oak right next to the Student Union. You will have the opportunity to meet brothers of each organization on campus and learn a little more about what the fraternities have to offer. Throughout IFC Recruitment week fraternities will be holding events on and off campus. I highly encourage all of you to learn more about the fraternities on campus and come out to as many events they host as possible.
If you have not already, make sure that you register for Fraternity Recruitment online. Make sure you fill out as much of the application as you can, as the fraternities use ICS to look at the list of possible new members during Recruitment Week and use it to get in contact with you to invite you to their events.
Should you have any questions, please reach out to me or the fraternities in which you're interested. I hope you all have a great school year and wish you all good luck on rushing a fraternity!
